Café de la Fontaine

Add it up: appetizers at 6 Euros; mains at 13 Euros; desserts at 6 Euros. That makes 25 Euros of pleasure, and the formula has worked for seven years. Bruno Cirino loves conviality and village spirit and, from early morning to dinner time this is a cafe. In five years, a few paces from his Hostellerie Jérôme, where he has created a two-star based on product, this "small, good, and not expensive" place made its mark well before the crisis came knocking on restaurant doors. The market humor is chalked up every day, matching Mediterranean and provincial spirits. Petits farcis, raviolis with new peas; artichoke heart with olive oil; rougets with vegetable pesto; veal tendon and polenta; peach tarte with verbena; ricotta roasted with bergamot... give a sampling. The carte changes noon and night and Var wines are available to help you along. The crowd includes every type and every level. Could this be the best gourmet cafe in France? |
