Between the Port and the Cours Saleya with its millions of variations on trends, Marc Laville prefers the intimacy of a bright and sober restaurant, peopled with contemporary paintings, a corner bar, and a large table near the fireplace. Pragmatic as well, he uses the recession to come up with new creations. Farewell to art for art's sake, bienvenu low prices (12 Euros for the noon special) and good dishes (nine on the grand menu at 75 Euros). There is this new liberty for the customer to choose any dish on the "terroir et creation" menu. Crusty crab, raw and cooked Thai vegetables and coconut-peanut condiments; roasted Saint-Jacques; Paimpol green beans with shellfish; fish du jour in a vegetable casserole; Angus beef slice; potatoes with cèpes... are a mixture of regions with good products and a rather clear path for discovering tastes and textures. A beautiful wine card links domains from the neighboring hills with grand Bordeauxx and Provence crus. Off season is convenient for this table without sunshine but not without warmth. Hélène Laville's welcome is charming and the young service knows its business.
