Le Bistrot du Paradou  

Mireille Pons has departed; her cuisine stayed behind. The Bistrot du Paradou, an institution in the Alpilles, continues her formula of a single menu, like a cantina: Friday it's aioli; Saturday local lamb. Every day there's a special dish: cassoulet with white beans; tete-de-veau; farm guinea fowl en brochette. It works for everyone, including Jean Reno, Michel Drucker, Sabine Azema, Charles Aznavour... and other habituees. We'd like to enjoy the terrace but no more - not negotiable. After an aperitif under the plane trees we enter and put our feet under the table and are treated to the appetizer, main, cheese, dessert, and wine. Stunning ambiance.
